Strong gearbox

Will a Porsche 924/944 gearbox fit in an IRS Beetle??Or is it possible to build a strong Beetle gearbox using bits from these gearboxes, maybe even a 5 speed gearbox??I've read that the Porsche rear springplates are used in IRS applications...

Expensive..... A strong well built bug box will be easier.... look at the tech section of germnanlook.com, aircooled.net and cal-look.com, they all got how-to's

944 an 924 used an audi box impossible to turn around
The swing arms can be used as they are essentially bug items
911 boxes can be used
