Greetings Brethren!;

Finally, I've been able to work the picture upload function (read- 'was too lazy to read the instructions proper'), so herewith pics of my Karmann Ghia daily driver project.

The car as I bought it in February:

The first thing I had done was have it taken in to have the existing mechanicals sorted. It has a single port 1600 motor which I intend to use while I search for an engine. Because the car is going to be in daily use, I want an engine set up that can cope with this application. In the interim, below is the maintenance done to the engine and steering:
-Replaced steering box,
-New speedo clock & cable,
-Ignitor kit with Bosch coil and heavy duty plug leads,
-External high volume oil pump, filter housing and filter,
-New carburettor,
-New exhaust system,
-Engine service.

Once the remedial work on the motor was done, the car was sent out to the body shop for the coach work to be properly gussied up. Because of the age of the car, I always knew that rust would be a factor. It was, without question, necessary to have the coach work stripped down and address any decay.

And the great dollops of filler...

True that Retrovan! Clearly the previouse project owner has a history with make-up. :lol:

I'm really wanting to produce an example that shows the true style and class of the Karmann Ghia. :lol:

Hi All;

The jam jar has just come out of paint (Apologies for the not so great picture quality). However, the body shop are telling me that the side moldings I bought won't fit. :x

Can anyone out there help me with this dilemma?

Thank you Mr. T. :) I'm really wanting to finish it off well. Tomorrow it goes to the upholsterers for an interior make over. I can't say how long that'll take but as soon as I get pics I'll put them up.

Thank you for the support Alants! It's much appreciated. Interior colour will be Fat Biscuit (read butterscotch) with a quilted seat bottom and back. Carpets will be black with Fat Biscuit binding in the joins.

Bless you YvaneS.

I'm really wanting it to be the Dog's Bollocks when it finally hits the streets.

I'm having issues with side moldings at the minute, but I'm praying that it will be resolved soon.

Thanks you folks.
