Needed something to do got this and started building it up from scratch the floor was rotten to the bone, the chasse was cracked and loos in the front section! We started from the bottom and worked our way up now I am sitting with a problem the motor got a back fire on it sins i got the 36DCD carb on it! Things going bad now bolts braking of electrical problems so on & so on.....! :( cant lode the pics size to big help!

If it back fires in the over run then you might be running a bit too lean on idle, richen the idle mixture up a bit.

But looking good, All rebuilds have some issues, just work through them and you will have a fun car..
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

We done that and set the timing new plugs new petrel pump and points and condenser!
I am thinking of setting the tappets now! I do see that there is more petrel lying on the right side inlet from the carb and nothing on the left.
The right side head is noisier!
