Eben obviously hasn't been to a Jacaranda meeting...

Add 50 years, tits that reach their toes, and walking canes and just about have the average member in Mind. ;)

*grins and waits for the Flames...*

Remeber we talking about the jacaranda club... So this is as good as it gets... But never the less,I support clubs and events as people take the trouble to organize them, and we as the aircooled family get together? It's on a farm outside pretoria, so it's roadtrip...

Some people obviously don't get it. It's not about washing your car, it's logical that you can do that at your house. It's about the PEOPLE getting together. The Jacaranda Beetle Club has some of the best organized events on the calendar and they have an event at least one a month. If you think that the club is full of old folks then you haven't been to a clubmeet lately. Sure there are old guy's (with lots of VW knowledge and enthusiasm) If you choose not to get involved with clubs, how can you criticize those who do something to keep the aircooled spirit alive?

Amen to that

Amen Didi...

So interesting how the same people that got issues with clubs and events is the one with the car that's always standing in the garage or rusting under a tree... and never at a event...

You got to know me waaay too late Didi.

I worked my arse off when I first got into VWs to organize events, calling all over the country to get some contacts, meeting and greeting everywhere possible...

In the end it was a thankless job scarred by the actions and words of the rotten few.

My club sentiments you know well.

Generalization is always a Bitch. ;)

Granted, there are some very knowledgeable folk there, I just didn't feel comfortable there at the time I met them as I was the youngest by about the age of an Oval.

Sorry Merlin, I didn't mean it in that way. I know that you are passionate about VW's my point is that the club is in existence for 21 years. They must be doing something right to achieve this. I feel that is't not right to criticize someone for trying to do something. Doesn't matter who they are. (Maybe I?m touchy because you said I?m old) So, are you joining us then?

*lmao* @ you being old. ;)

I don't think I'll have the time Didi. There are a couple of things I need to check out, one of which we need to talk about. :D

...not to mention I am now drastically cutting myself off from car activities. I've had a string of experiences which has put me right off of them to the point where I no longer wish to associate with car activities for a while. I am not enjoying my cars at present. If the feeling persists in the forseeable future, I'll be leaving the scene and *possibly selling my cars.

No disrespect to the club. I'm sure they organize great events. I just felt out of place, and the comment made here a few days ago by FFF with his modified car being turned down put me off somewhat too.

Cheers, N.
