Great progress on your Samba Leon!

Just so you know, top colour was originally L472 beige grey over L53 sealing wax red. :hangloose:

Hi Fig

Thanx I am really enjoying it. Still can't believe I have it.
I will check the paint and mix one liter, I am planning to spray a test sample this weekend of each colour to see what it looks like. When I saw Sealing wax red in the can I really got a big fright, its bloody ugly so I want to test on bus.

A few more updates on the bus.
Powder coating all window frames and safari frame also coater side frmes wheels and steering rack. I will still aint them to match body exactly but at least they are clean inside and coated for long term.
Also received a few more parts from ebay etc.
Received some panels from Jacques will take pics later.
I love the clean parts
I have done alot of work on removing old rusty panels but will add pics later.

This must be the best thing I have ordered so far.
The radio has a USB, SD card and normal single point plug under dash but does not detract from old car with to much bling.
The knobs look the same as normal bus knobs.
Found on ebay

Hi to all

A new update for this week. I have received my gearbox back from Brian that rebuilld it. He really did a great job that looks great and did not cost me an arm an a leg. It was rebuild as a precaution and seems it was a go precaution
Other thatn that I have fitted two dog leg panels left and right. The old ones just had to much rust.
I have also grinded out most of the floor and rust in that area. Will sand blast next

Sambas in South Africa are good for only 2 things: showing off and sunburn.

The project becomes bigger and bigger the further i go, but any person that has restored a car before knows this...and I should have remembered it. The amount of work is crazy but have to keep up the pace. I actually hate body work and LOVE assembling every thing so best part i still to come.
But I will have realised a dream by the end of this and that is all that matters.

Today Itook in the last powder coating batch in. I am only waiting for a few more small parts and last few panels and after that I will work towards paint. I wanted to have the car done for my Kruger trip in July but that wont happen.
I can also now start assembling the all new and refurbed front suspension. Tomorrow I will spend day sand blasting the rear suspension area.
I am now aiming for POMC aircooled day or maybe cars in the park...will see...

Thanx for all the help from everybody
