Hi peeps...

Yes its been a while that i have been active here on ACVWSA...and not due to a lack of interest...but mostly due to the fact that life has been hectic the last 2 years and my Blitz Brits German Look Project changed into something different and has been slow in progress.. ( will post a lot of the news soon..)

But fear not i have something new up my sleeves...

Enter "Fusca Verdi" 1972 one lady owner mean green bug...that now stands in MY garage...as the second owner...

I heard that she was for sale via a friend of my dads who know this car was up for sale. Fusca Verdi belonged to Ms Joan Beukes - who now lives in an old age home - and was sold by her daughter.

This car was Ms Beukes daily driver until she could not drive any more; bought in Dec 1971 and registered the next Jan 1972 ( as still is the practice today with even new vehicles purchased...) - will also check VIN and Chassis numbers to confirm this...

I would like to post some pics 1st and then start telling the story...

my sincere apologies for being soooo quite re: Fusca verdi..

My dad fell very ill just after i bought the car and started this thread, and he sadly passed away end of June 2013.

So since then i have done alot on the car from a full valet, some minor servicing, dropping the suspension, new wheels etc etc...

So here are a few pics to tell the story from where it started...

the 1st day i got the car ( my dad drove it home and he loved it):


she has hardly been washed or cleaned in the last 40 odd years it looked like

dirty parcelle/ luggage area ( 40 years off dirt in there...eish

1st service: oil change, plugs, points, new spark plug leads, condenser





Soaking up some shade after the R1000 service i did...lol

A few days later i did this mod in order to bring sanity to my Sunday drinving:





hate these buggers...



running with muchmuchmore grunt after that!!!! hehehe

then i did the 009 distributor install due to a dizzy seal leak..

Some major cleaning needed ( some surface rust under battery tray)

vacumed some fossilized animals and plants from under the rear seats...man...

took the front carpets out against the from panel - hectic work with 40yr old glue stuck to body work...





tried sanding glue off - didnt really work...

Leave the old glue on as it helps the new glue to bond much better when fitting carpets just get rid of the sand and dust.

sorry to hear about your old man... I am dreading to have that happen in my family....
