Sometimes Stupid

I had a real stupid reality/brain check today

Changed motor over a while ago from beetle into Manx and Vise versa
Also was helping a mate with his pypcar at the same time

As with mathematics and aircooled wonders all things need to progress in a logical order

Well after doing everything else in the wrong order
Points - Leads - Coil -Condensor Vac leaks -Carbs -Earths

Possibly guessing where this is going

Still had a wierd backfireing and no power etc etc

Have been away from all the said problem motors for a while but today I went and had a look at the problems again

Now the maths brain kicks in
There is no ways that all these problems that are the same can be equal in all the engines

Unless you have done something the same on all

One by Einstein moment

Tdc - check
Make sure that the mark you are using is # 1 - plug out and check
Rotor pointing to fire at #1 - Check
Firing order 1-4-3-2 Check
Valve config Front to Rear 1-2 and 3-4

Right side correct and Left side the wrong way round as I had the valve config as 1234 going clockwise (n my brain) from 1 and not 1243 as it is on the car ( reality )

Change the 2 leads about and hey presto all engines firing beautifully

The learning process for some of us is a long one
Well at least this lesson even though long has been learnt - Spark - Bang - Push - in the corect order

So here is the Maths
Battery + Coil + Distributer Must = Spark- Bang- Push and = 1-4-3-2( firing order ) and lastly= 1243 Valve config

If all these things with a few other minor settings are equal then you get the VROOM

End of my lesson
Dumb ass
:hangloose:

Hey good things come from moment like that.

As an appy, a guys called me knowing I like VW's, when I got there, he said he wants to sell the car, just did the motor, and "has not got the time" to start it.
I noticed he had a gleam in the eye, and asked if he cocked up the motor, he said no, and dropped the price to half, when looking at the engine, I said i will take the junk off his hands, and we did the deal, signed papers and exchanged money.
I then took the keys, opened the hood, turned the plug leads around, and drove off.
Needles to say, he never spoke to me again, I did not feel bad, as he was trying to smear off a dud motor (in his mind)

So all depends which side you see it from.
