Hi all

I'm thinking of adding a oil temp sensor to my newly acquired 1600 (fresh build from Calooker) motor
Is it worth it, or am I wasting time and money?

Thanks

Thats true. But sometimes it is needed.

I wouldnt bother with the temp sensor on a 1600 if you dont go racing. Check the temp of the dipstick occasionally until you are happy it is OK.
If you burn yourself, oil is too hot (can happen when the engine is running in). If you can hold the dipstick for a second or more, then temp if OK.

When I have had work done on a VW motor, I used a long glass thermometer, into the dip stick hole for the 1st week, to see the temp of the engine.
When happy, its running right, I replace it back with the dip stick.

Now I have a temp. logger with two sensors, so now I am really Posh. (had to get one for my work)

But whats good for the cats a$h, is also good for the VW motor....
