The grille you see covering the reservior was made from the upright exhaust chrome cover off a Freightliner  what a mix grille eh?

More updates on the engine, turbo and performance later :D

Hi Bratjie, any update? What is the latest on the turbo WBX? You got any tips for firbeglass work? Or link maybe?
Let us know how the car behaves!

Well, I havent posted in some time now, since the last update we have been fiddling around with the engine & stuff, did a couple of races on the oval track, upgraded to 2.1 crank, sleeves and pistons, got a nice set of heads from my buddy Wentzel and a lot of other toys from my other buddy Louis! Currently busy making up an intake manifold to fit 440cc injectors and MP9 throttle body, have the trigger wheel and pick-up all set up, running the T3-T4 turbo again, just waiting for it all to come together now.
Cant wait to feeeeel the booost again, I'm going nut's without it :D
Other than that the oval racing bug has bitten and me and my son Kaylon decided to give the open class a go. We picked up an old ex racer, who knows where it's been but is still buildable for my son to kart around in.

My Beetle (Noisy Boy) still looks more or less the same with some minor detail done, just waiting for the engine now! Want to go another round on the oval track :hangloose:

For my own open class car I had to do a little thinking  and then it struck me!!!
I have this little fellow sitting at home all alone,
Karmann Charger.jpg

And maybe I can build something like this,

Slap that KG body on there with lekka wide fenders, nice paint job, Lexus V8 on 10psi boost and have some fun :hangloose:

Hi guy's, it's been a while, the WBX engine is back together and busy running in. took it for a dyno without turbo and I was quite amazed at the result even without turbo on with lowered compression, before I put the turbo back on I want to build a diy water/meth kit. I want it to be boost activated at around 5 to 6 psi using a Hobb's switch. I'm using T3T4 blowing through twin 40 Dellortos with charge cooler. Any ideas as to what to use and how to test/build would be greatly appreciated,

Good to see you back.. saw your car on FB a few days ago and it is still looking good.
150hp is good fun. If you keep it NA it just might be the end of your overheating problems.

As for what to use and how to use it... cant help you there buddy

Thx's Tony, well I never had any overheating problems with the previous turbo setup, it's just that I want the turbo setup back on and thought about adding the meth kit for better cooling and to suppress detonation if any, boosting only 10psi. If I can double the power I'll be happy as ...... well you know what they say, lol, Boost is addictive and I need that kick. Anyway she's known to run turbo so I don't want to get dropped by some kid with a GTI or something. Gotta fit that Turbo man, lol. I'm seeing the guy's at Performance Products SA tomorrow to get the right nozzles, fittings, pump and controller. They stock Cool Boost and Devilsown products so I'll propably be able to get all I need. Hoping to get it all together by next week and then dyno again. I'll post the results.

This is their clam:

Benefits Of Water-Methanol Injection
* Increase power output safely by 10-15%
* Lower air temperatures by 50-200+ degrees
* Increases octane when you need it under boost.
* Reduces cylinder temperatures up to 300+ degrees
* No wear issues only clean combustion chambers
* Allows you to safely run more boost and timing

10psi... you shouldnt need it. If you have an efficient engine and can properly intercool the boost, you should come close to doubling your power at 8psi - well, this is the theory applied to marine diesel 2 stroke engines anyway, but it should come close for petrol 4 stroke.
If I really wanted to go the water/meth injection route, I'd stay away from the meth and just add water. Meth eats things that you dont want to get eaten.
Make sure that the spray is as fine a mist as possible. Big drops are bad, mist is good - look at the water misting in outdoor restaurants... mist works, drops dont

Going real radical now, decided to add NOS to the project with the new turbo, still trying to find forged pistons so I'll experiment with a Sneaky Pete NX Nos kit on the old pistons. Trying to break it and then rebuild :hangloose:

Hi guy's back again and still going strong with the wbx motor in my beetle now called Noisy Boy, for obvious reasons, lol. I just tore down the motor just for a checkup and all seems fine inside after knocking the hell out of it. However I have found a Gotech mfi-x lying around and was wondering if I could fit it just to pull timing under boost, no FI as I'm running two 40 Dellorto's which I like to play around with. I need some advice on what I would need to fit it. I still have a 60-2 trigger wheel on the crank pulley from a previous Spitronics FI system I had on and a coil pack. Now I'm needing to know whether the trigger wheel set up would be the same as for spitronics, where I can find pick up sensor for it, a cable for laptop etc, any body with experience willing to assist please? Does it even run on trigger wheel and wasted spark or must it go through dizzy, my apologies if my questions sound stupid but that's where I am now, lol.

I ran the pro-X for timing only.
Worked well.
60-2 wheel and pickup from volkspares
run it through a coil with 4 plugs so you run it on wasted spark and use the wheel for crank angle

I sold the pro-x because I couldnt hook it up to my laptop no matter what cable I bought. And the PC which I originally used to program it, kuked itself - so I had no more access to the ECU.
I then swapped to CB's system for timing only and have been happy ever since

So the only problem I'm facing here really is a computer cable then. Will need to find the pickup sensor as the trigger wheel is already on but destroyed the spitronics mag pickup on the last setup. Is the pickup location the same as spitronics, I think 11 teeth after the gap on the trigger wheel at tdc?

the pickup location should be programmable. Its probably better around 11 teeth, but is likely adjustable on the PC from 4 to 18 - I really cant remember the numbers now.
