I need some assistance, please, regarding a realistic asking price for a Beetle. The vehicle in question is a 1974 1600, bought new by the current owner. It has been parked in a garage all its life, serviced regularly (not always by a VW dealership), no scratches or dings or accidents. There is about 170 000km on the clock, it starts first time every time, no smoke or funny noises. Original owners manual, tool kit and so on. Interior in very good condition, normal wear and so on. No modifications to anything, it was driven short distances only.

in my opinion if it's as good as you just described it, it sounds like a bargain if you can get in under 25k. have a look around at the national prices :puterwork: . from what i've seen in the last year or two that is a pretty rare find if they are not biting at your pension fund  . if you compare it to the current market and you think it is too expensive, it might be wise to look at a restored model in the same price range. otherwise restore a more affordable one yourself :hangloose:

Last year a collector I know paid R65000 for a immaculate 77s, original tires to boot, 1 owner 38000 kms best original beetle I have ever seen, with all receipts even all service papers from VW last license was 1981, came from a deceased estate.

OK, thanks, as soon as I have pictures available I will put it in the proper section. The car belonged to my mom, who passed away recently and we need to sell the car.

I think (therefore, my opinion only) for a car that sounds so good that anything under R40000 is reasonable.. 8)

*EDIT* I didn't read the last post, if you're trying to buy R40K is reasonable, if you want to sell & the car is in the condition stated begin a bit higher, try your luck, you can always drop the price, you can't however hike the price once it's out there or sold & you are kicking yourself because you could have gotten a couple of bop more..
