Aircooled VW South Africa

I'm looking to upgrade the drum brakes on my 1967 beetle, this is my first car and I have no experience with the beetle. I heard that the golf mk1's disc brakes bolt straight on to the beetle. If anybody on this forum would be so kind to give me some advice I'd be verry happy

Firstly a disk upgrade will be a huge step up on what you are currently running, and will work out about the same $$$ as trying to rebuild your current setup with new parts, but Golf setup will not bolt on, what you will use from the Golf is the disks, pads & calliper, the rest is custom CNC machined bits to get the lot to work as well as off the shelf non VW bearings to make the lot a bolt on kit.
I can get these kits front & rear 4x100 or 5x100 PCD or aditional adapters for any other PCD you may feel like using, all new parts.

as Rui says, It can work, but do not be fooled by it being a direct fit.
In saying so, these setups are reliable and by far one of the BEST choices one can make when having these cars as daily drives.

This being your first car, How long have you had it? have you driven in rain, needed to brake a little harder than normal and all of a sudden.. your hands were pretty full?

Do this and get your shocks replaced if they have not been done, and your well on your way to a smooth safe ride.

The good thing about the disk setup is, you dont need to be under your car readjusting the brakes every other day as you would with Drums.
