Ja, I can see that. But why, why not just use the tail pipes out the back...

Why Why WhyRon&Gill wrote:Ja, I can see that. But why, why not just use the tail pipes out the back...
Coz I can
it just gives that extra confusion to the un educated when they see the twin pipes
But Spoke to the Client which is a Good guy as his name is also Pierre and we might close the cut outs and smooth out the back valance with the hidden Tailpipe
One of the Big reasons why I always hide the real tail pipe on a conversion like this is when the bug is low then the tailpipe always catch thorough every driveway you go

Re: V8 Nightmare 2.1 WBX Turbo in Beetle
But why don't you use the twin tails for an exhaust, then the low single pipe won't be needed and it won't catch on any driveway. Why, why? Oh WHY??

Re: V8 Nightmare 2.1 WBX Turbo in Beetle
I'm not really taking the piss, well, a little, but the question is a genuine one...
Looks to me like you almost built a proper one right there, Bugger... One hole to close and another one, or two, to open...

Re: V8 Nightmare 2.1 WBX Turbo in Beetle
I saw that. But I still don't have an answer to my question... Say the client had said, "Yes, I do want the two rear ones to be the real exhausts and I want you cut off and close the one that catches on the driveway, and here is lots of money for it... Lots!" What could/would you have done?

Re: V8 Nightmare 2.1 WBX Turbo in Beetle
Let's see. Say you have a water tank that you want to drain. Which will drain it faster? One two inch pipe or two one inch pipes? You would have to increase the size of the two tailpipes, that it would not look stock anymore. All about airflow through the silencer!
Most men in their mid-life crisis buys Harleys. I build BEETLES!

Re: V8 Nightmare 2.1 WBX Turbo in Beetle
Sorry, but kak! Those two tail pipes are not the same as stock peashooters. In fact, they look each the same as to one waiting for driveways. Therefore, you can get 4 times the flow through those two than you can get through the one (it's a quadratic equation, by the way...). It is about the flow through the silencer, but not volume, is my guess.
