Not 70ish. All Fleetlines are 1975s.

Not 70ish. All Fleetlines are 1975s.
Not correct.
To the best of my knowledge, October '74 was the first month of production. March '76 seems to have been the final month for 'split Fleetlines'. Irrespective of the 'factory year', I have examined buses from all three years.
VWSA also lists the "Brasilia" as a Fleetline in a few locations, which explain the "Fleetline" backside on them.

Yes, but all Fleetline VINs show model year 1975.

That may be, but Fleetline ID plates seemed to have been designed by Oompa-Loompas and distributed via lucky packets. A lot of nonsense, a fair bit of make-believe and mostly long forgotten.
I've yet to find any decent, sway-worthy info' on Fleetline production and their interesting history, whether it be from past employees or literature.

I conquer..................apparently the oompa loompas where on thier way to SA to start up the very first and much anticipated South African franchise of the famous Wonka chocolate co.........when VW SA hijacked a plane and crashed it into "The Mountain," starting all sorts of rumours about weaopons grade explosives and stuff.
Classic misdirection...smoke and mirrors guys.
It was at this time that the plane with the oompa loompas on just landed at Jan Smuts international airport,....when the big wigs from Uitenhage told the oompa loompas about a possible terrorist attack and were whisked off to safety.........
All of a sudden they were making ID tags for Fleetlines.
There you have it folks....mods, can you move this to the history section please
