My caddys water light (behind the heat gauge) comes on after a short distance when moving at 120km/h
My water tank is full,I replaced the heat sensor, what is wrong with my caddy? Any tips? What shuld I look for?
What shuld I replace?

what does the manual say?
it is possible that your thermostat is staying closed, even though they should fail in the open position.
Have a look at your radiator. Is it still in good enough condition to let air through it or does it have so much stone damage that it isnt actually doing much?

That is very common on MK1 golfs, as soon as the needle gets half way across the gauge the light starts to flicker, as long as it is not going passed 3 quarters you should be ok.

I Unfortunately don't have a manual, they say that light is to tell you
The water level is low,the raidiator looks fine, suppose I can blow is clean to
Make sure there's no dust batwean the pipes, thanx tony! Ya someoneat work also
Mentioned the thermostat! Thanx tony

Blitz, I replaced a heat sensor in the water line,it has a plug for 4 wires, but it only
Has 2 wires

Ja shot calooker, the needle stays at half, but then again I haven't driven it that far yet,but the light doesn't flicker, it slowly comes on like its stalking me, then its shines constantly

I have owned a couple of MK1 golfs, and my brother has a Caddy and it does the same thing sometimes - its something to do with the actual electronics in the cluster, dont sweat it, as long as you have water in the system, the waterpump is good, and heat guage stays around the midlle, nothing to worry about.

The red light on the gauge is the "water level" warning ligh depending on what water bottle you have in the car you either have to replace the switch in the bottle (sits @ the top of the bottle and screws out) or if it has a later model water bottle with the sensor build in you have to replace the bottle.
Last resort if that is done and the light still comes on is to replace the 3 pin IC on the back of the cluster , pics would help :)

Thanx golf, but I'm planning a long trip so I wanna get that light off asap!
Coz it makes me paranoid!!! Haha

Thanx splitfan, but my bottle is a newer one (apparantly) its like a ball, but has no sensors,
C the sensor thing I replaced is in the water line, just as it comes out the block,
It has like a 4 point plug on,with only 2 wires going in.and I'm sorry this might be a dumb Q but wat is
The 3 pin ic? And cluster? Is the cluster the wires behind your guages?

I even replaced the sensor on the righthand side of the block, some say its for water some say its for oil.
So I replaced it, just wating to test it

The 4 pin sensor you replaced is used on all the mp9 injected (and limited to some carb model cars) i suspect you have a carburated model if your harnass only has two wires to the plug .This is a water temp sensor two wires go to the gauge and if the car is FI two wires go to the ECU.
If your car has the new type bottlel make sure you dont have a plug hanging somewhere that has to plug into the bottle for the waterlevel sensor .
The 1pin switch you replaced either brown or blue on the side of the cylinder head is oil a pressure switch and should not have any relevance to your current issue.
Can you tell me what cluster the car has in ? again pics would help :)
