ah man. that's early 70s. looks ok from the pics. how much does he want for it. parts are available. even the original taillights you can replace. does it still have the strait 6 engine in? canopy is a score.

Has a v8 308 big block with 3 speed box . What's the canopy worth . He wants 11k as is for the van .

11k is an absolute bargain if the papers are in order. it probably has a 302 5.0 small block ford v8 in. 308 v8 were Chevy and also small block. they are reasonably economical if tuned correct. I had a 302 with 3 speed Manuel and
gave me 9km/l.

don't know what the canopy is worth but it's worth keeping. you will not find another one easily.

if you fix it up nicely it will go for anything from 40k.

you are making me very jealous :D

The license is back 6 years any idea what it would come to only problem . And the clutch is gone don't know if it's the master cyl , slave cyl or the clutch plate .

Want to fit a ford v6 motor and box once we get it . Will get it running first with the v8 in the meantime .have to wait till Monday for the paper work before buying the guy says his got all paper work .

if i may ask why do you want to swop the v8 for v6?

the license can be written of on to the previous owners name and he has to sort it out but he probably wants to sell it with the arrears.

If you put a v6 in it will use more fuel than the v 8 not to mention the power loss, look in to fitting a Perkins diesel that some of them came out with, its a 6cyl and has unbelievable fuel consumption,if its got a v 8 it should have a big enough radiator.

Might stick with the v8 if it runs well the guy says the motor runs ok just got to put in a battery . Yes he wants to sell it with the outstanding license.

We'll I thought the v6 motor would work fine . Think a diesel motor would be better . What about a 4 cyl turbo diesel motor like the ford Ranger has , would that pull the f100 . Where can I get a Perkins motor from .

What's the current cost of the license per year and the penalty fee per year I'm not sure what it is .has anyone had the bugs or buses license in arrears when buying from the PO .

Regards .

[quote="beetle786"].has anyone had the bugs or buses license in arrears when buying from the PO .[/quote

In Gauteng arrears license fees are calculated at twice the yearly license fee thus you are gonna be left with something equaling 12years worth of license fees .

have a look at the weight and calculate it with this guide http://www.foresightpublications.co.za/MVlicGaut.html

remember 6 years arrears license and 6years penalty on arrears license!!!

id stick to the v8. if they are tuned correct and your foot is not too heavy they are very economical. the perkins that they came out of was more economical but not nearly the same power. you wont be able to keep a constand towing speed as the v8. if it still has the original radiator its more than adequate to keep it cool. I fitted a box shape bmw radiator after mine rotted away with a electric fan and no problems.

the turbo diesel will work but gives the same fuel economy and the expenses to do the conversation is almost not worth while.

sorry just my 2c.

unfortunately those bakkies are heavy so it messes the license fees around. mine was R600 and something a year but still I paid it with a smiles because it's like having a combi. remember this was western cape.

hope it helps. if I'd had the money I'd be banging on your door.
