Are any of you able to assist with info', or better yet, a photo, of the insides of an Early Bay' Bosal silencer, please?
I would like to convert mine to a split layout (LHS outlet) and want to know what's involved before cutting them up. It seems to me that we need to move the preheater vacuum pipe and outlet over and we should be good to go...
Thanks.
Nic
"Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car, and oversteer, the rear. Hp is how fast you hit the wall, and Torque is how far you take the wall with you."
I have 2 or 3 cut open silencers at my factory. Will try and send a few pics tomorrow.
I stand under correction, but as far as I remember, both cut outs/tail pipe exits fall into one chamber, so swapping over or having 2 like the beetle doesn't matter. Will check that it is the Bosal that had this configuration and not another brand.

Fantastic.
Thanks, Sean.

Here are the pics.
As you can see, there is a sectioned off chamber which forces the gases through the perf wholes below into the exit chamber. As its hollow, it doesn't matter which side the tail piece is on or even if there is two as is the case with the beetle.
This would be looking from the front of the car, ie between the motor and silencer. Ignore the half with the 2 tail pipe exits.
These are the two pairing sides.
Here’s the internal configuration of one of the Brazilian imports.
