2l golf kombi conversion

Hi there sorry im new to this forum please excuse if topic has been discussed. I would like to put a golf 2l motor in auto villa. It previously had a ford v6. Except for motor what would I need to make this possible. If someone can give me a list of part it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi my name id Coenraad Hanekom I am from Grahamtown in the Eastern Cape and a keen do it your selfer. I have just bought myself a Autovilla and is in the process of building it up. I run across this forum looking for information. Hope that one of the member could assist.

Google Gilo Engineering in JHB. They do a kit (flywheel, adaptor and crossmember) for around R3500. You can buy a 2l Golf motor from places like Japtech, MYM etc for prices ranging from R4k-R6.5k. Go for the fuel injection setup (about R6.5k for harness and reprogrammed ECU & coilpack). Basically plug and play just might need to plug in a VAG terminal to adjust the fueling (normally is a bit rich).
Clutch is 2.1 kombi/ type 4 2.0l unless you had a smaller engine. Then the starter might also be a problem. If your old starter is not working so well anymore it might struggle with the high compression golf engine.
Cooling can be done by mounting a radiator between the chassis rail and adding some ducting and protection from stones. That is if you don't already have a radiator up front. Bugger and key have done it and can maybe guide you more.
You might have to modify the firewall between the tank and engine slightly as the firewall sometimes touches the engine. Engine decklid must also be raised (I think) but maybe it's not an issue in an Autovilla.

Coenraad, did you come right with the adapter and flywheel? I believe that Gilo has stopped making them for some bizarre reason. Ace Auto spares in Springs is now making them, but out of steel which is better as the alu ones from Gilo had the tendency to strip the threads.
