Need help identifying motor

Hi everyone
I have a motor that I got for my Porsche rsk 718 Project.
According to the manual it's a 68 model beetle
I have attached pics below

Its leaking oil......definitely a VW motor

What's the prefix on the engine number? If it's a 68 it's likely a 1500; engine# prefix would be H or SFH.

what i found below the generator stand was - SPBR 249597

That would be SFBR.
SF = SA assembled
B = type2 single port
R = replacement case
Below and right of the pulley you can see an oval shaped blank, which identifies the case as a Brazilian or Mexican "universal" case, which would have been a replacement case, which fits type 1, 2 and 3 applications.
