1961 Karmann Ghia - Wiper Motor Removal

Hi there
Just hoping someone can tell me how to remove the wiper motor assembly from the Karmann Ghia
I found the bolts holding the motor assembly - just can't work out how to remove the "spline stalks" that the wipers attach to - On later models I think the nut slides over the "spline stalks" and then the whole lot just drops through the hole in the body but these don't so I am guessing I need to somehow remove the "spline stalks" - I tried "unscrewing" them with a bit of pressure but don't want to damage the splines - there also looks like a small pin / grub scres on the one side but I can't see a slot fro a screw driver or hole for allen key ?
Help - Please

Is that not a grub screw I see on the side of the spline? I think you need to unscrew it, or is it a pin drilled in???
I think this is a modification done later to be able to fit later wiper arms

Thanks for the reply
You were right
Someone had modified them to take later wipers so I cut the pins off and got them off
Will have to see if I can fix or replace the wiper stalks when we assemble

Are the beetle motors directly interchangable ?

are you asking about wiper motors or engines?
