might fit a T4 with two manifolds when replacing a twin carb setup on a flat engine, but I doubt it will fit a 1600.
The design also screams "Flat spots"!!!!

Agreed. That manifold clearly won't fit the manifold ends of a type1 engine; maybe it will bolt on to twin carb manifolds.
A friend of mine had one of these on a type4 engined bus and on cool, damp mornings he had endless issues with manifold icing. He used to stuff a towel down one of the engine air vents to reduce air flow until the engine warmed up.
