Got this pic from Merlin a few years ago, do you have any more info on the AA buggies?

From what Pine told me when I had my one, it is called a Kestell and was used extensivly by the AA and I think that there used to be one at the James Hall museum BUt I may be wrong.

I haven never been able to find more information about the AA buggies, except Merlin's picture, and a few individuals who can vaguely recall seeing them driving. I visited the AA head office in Midrand a few years ago but they couldn't help me. They did however have a nice vintage AA-branded Harley with side car on display at reception.
Yes, it is indeed a Kartcraft Kestrel (see company logos below). From the yellow (ND?) number plate and later pentagon-shaped AA logo I gather the pic was taken in the early 80's.
I reckon they chose the Kestrel buggy because it was the only buggy at the time that can be locked with a key, as it has doors. How many and by whom they were built I don't know.
I've been to the James Hall Museum 3 of 4 times but never saw an AA buggy there, although it will be the perfect place to keep one.
I like your idea to build an AA-branded buggy! (Just remember you will never be able to drive pass a guy with a flat tire on the side of the road

)
