I doubt any of those made it to SA. VW built its first factory split bus ambulances in 1951, to address the demand being met by the likes of Miesen, Binz and other coachbuilders doing ambulance conversions. The Miesen Beetle ambulance conversion was made instantly obsolete with the launch of the VW Transporter in 1950.
