Hi all, I'm new to this forum and was hoping for some advice. I have recently secured a 1966 Karmann Ghia, which looks to be in good condition. As I don't have much info on the car, except for a plaque in the front boot section, indicating that she was restored in 1988 by a Mr SJ Vos from Bloemfontein. The car is SAVVA dated and very original including the paint, which looks to be Henna Red with a Pearl white top. Since the paint is showing it's age, I have decided to have it resprayed in the same color combination.
Is anybody familiar with the car and its history?
Would appreciate any comments / thoughts on the car.
Mark
Being a Porsche guy, I don't know much about Karmann Ghia's except that they must rank as the most beautiful design to come out of Karmann.

Welcome Mark, sorry I can not be of assistance but I must admire your collection of VW's.
I'm sure you will get someone here to chime in and give you the info you are looking for.

I know this car, belongs to Mike Clark. Top notch restoration back in the day, has all the right trim etc. I would roll it as is, I think the paint is still very good, all I would do it to do is a polish and a 2 tone paint job on the wheels to match the body, will make a huge difference, worth every cent.

@AlanH, sadly the bus and beetle are not mine. I went to Porsche PTA for a visit and by chance hooked up with them and their owners. I must admit, they caused quite a stir and stole the spotlight from the Porsches.
@calooker, you are correct, I did buy the car from Mike, however he doesn't have her history and we are both curious as to her whereabouts. In terms of the paint, I gave it much thought and since she is so original and complete, it would be an injustice not to return her to her former glory. Whilst in good condition, the paint and bodywork was not perfect. Considered a brush over, but have decided on a respray in the same Colour, with new chrome bits etc.
Following much research on the Internet, it would seem that the rims need to be silver, to ensure originality.
I am also looking for an original or replica, push button Blaupunkt radio.
Thoughts are welcome.
