Does any one know of ANYONE that does good chrome plating or electro plating anywhere in sa? I used a CO in Dbn, very expensive, and the buggers messed it all up. The "Chroming started rusting after a week.

HELP :(

Thanx WolfsBane

Dont know who to use, but was always told to get it dont in JHB. Their quality chrome is much higher than the rest of SA.
Columbus steel is nearby, I think that may have something to do with it.

If you are looking for a good local shop, go to a hydraulics refurbishing workshop and ask them who does their hydraulic cylinders. The rods are all chrome plated to a very high grade.

Sheffield electroplating (011) 334 1102 in JHB 200m from Volkspares on Rosettinville road, they do good work and have a 12 month guarantee, they have been in this game since the war. It is expensive, my buddy paid R1750 last year to get his Ghia's bumpers & overiders done, they needed no panel beating, or it would have been more expensive, so get that done first and make sure there is no body filler or lead repairs on whatever you are getting chromed. He had a issue with one of the overiders and they did it over no problem.

Hey Tonyz, what the hell has Columbus got to do with chroming in JHB :?: :?: :?: To me a 140 km trip to Middleburg is far :!: :!: :!:

Columbus only produce stainless steel and ship world wide maybe CT is an exception, and produce their own, DUH!

I was under the impression they did more than just stainless.

Interesting fact, South Africa is the world's largest ferrochrome (chrome) producing country in the world and produce about 60% of all world production. Chrome is second to gold in terms of foreign exchange earnings, guess that is why it is so expensive to chrome plate parts, It is probably a lot more expensive outside of SA. Maybe you will start having criminals robbing chrome platers once they find out how valuable chrome is. :D :D :D

A million Thanx......

Thanx for all the help, and the odd discussion :P , but hey if it blows your hair back thats very cool too  .

NEVER EVER TRY NATAL ELECTRO/CHROME PLATERS, I think they do work for a cheap chinese toy factory, coz I got a Toy Die Cast 58 Bug, and it rusted as fast as my bumpers, and thats a collectable car....supposedly, only 3000 of the things made and I gat the rusty one

have a look at the pic of the silver bullet, she had cane rats living in her for 7 years, so i dont think she appreciates the "rat" look anymore.

Seriously, do you think a Ghia would make a good rat, careful how ya answer, lest I take the ugly stick to your head at warp speed velocity  .

Careful laddie,

see the pix of the silver bullet, she lived in the canefield as a rat condominium for 7 years,
I think I should beat ya over the head with a set of 40 year old push rods.

Besides the rat look is for students that cant afford a decent resto. Its a good excuse to have a really shitty looking car, and still have the balls to drive it in public, and then call yourself a VW fan...

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
