Good afternoon, i am looking for a good mechanic for 1974 beetle on the west rand in Gauteng.

Speak to Bruce 0825021099. He works from Horizon.
In the longer term, I suggest you start to empower yourself by learning to repair your car yourself. The brake system is very simple and all the parts are easily available. For example, the Beetle is one of the few cars left on the road that requires you to adjust the brakes (all cars these days have self-adjusting brakes). Your braking problem may simply be a need for adjustment to compensate for normal wear on the brake shoes.
For starters, buy yourself a copy (amazon.com), of "How to Keep Your Volkswagen Alive: A Manual of Step-By-Step Procedures for the Complete Idiot", by John Muir (aka The Idiot's Guide). It's easy to read and beautifully illustrated.

Thanks, been trying to empower myself, but this car is driving me nuts.
Replaced brake master and right front wheel cylinder. Finally got the system to bleed properly, but as soon as i apply brakes, the right front wheel jams solid. Think it is time for an expert to look at it.

Bruce will see you right. Sounds like you need to replace the flex hoses.

Just check that your adjusters is showing in the right direction, if you look carefully you will see the brake shoes on the one end is flat and on the other side it has a bit of an angle. The flat part suts on the wheel cylinder and the angled side on the adjuster. Just check your adjuster also has an angled slot which must correspond with the brake shoe. The last advice, replace both the cylinders, the chance of leakage on the other wheel is no more for the new one can take more pressure.
