Welcome to ACVWSA CDirkie1967.

You've done nothing wrong (yet  ), but typing in all caps is generally known as SHOUTING and seen as bad netiquette, as well as being more difficult to read than normal sentence case.

I'll leave others to answer the bulk of your questions, but I can confirm that the VIN you listed belongs to a 1972 Beetle. A Karmann Ghia VIN should start with 14 on a post-1965 car.

The plate with "06/1967" does not refer to the year of manufacture, but to other specs of the car, most likely interior and upholstery colours.

Dirk,.. fig is correct ,.... something is fishy with that vin.
Check out the following web sites.

http://Www.karmannghiaconnection.com -------according to the range quoted, your car should be a '56 model,..yet fromthe pic it looks like a post '59,.... ie a 1960 and up but not a '67. I had a '67 and. It had the 4 x 100 pcd rimes with disc brakes up front.
I am by no means a 'specialist' on these cars
Also check out type14.com,....if itstill exists.

O!!!! And welcome to the forum,.....and good luck. When you look after, and maintain a ghia,..... it is normally not the mechanicals that gives you headaches,.... it is the rest of the car

Regards Nick
