Limited Slip Diff

I am looking at installing a limited slip diff.
I know it has been done before but I don't know which limited slip diffs will work in the beetle nor where to get it.
If any person here knows could they please inform me and the rough price thereof.

A ZF LSD was a stock option on all ACVWs, but they're rare as hen's teeth, and apparently require a particular driving style.
It is possible to fit a modern LSD or locking diff to a Beetle/bus box, but all the workshops I have spoken to say it's not possible.
If you do find out anything, please share the info here, as I am also looking to fit a LSD to one of my buses.

First question, why do you need LSD?
Is the car a daily driver? If not, just lock the diff. Works like a charm. Makes your turning circle a little bigger, but other than that very nice. Eliminates a lot of wheelspin and helps for the inner wheel spinning though a high speed corner.

What about a superdiff from the states? I priced one. +-R1500

The car is in daily use so locking the diff is a big no no. I want the limited slip diff to increase handling ability especially when get those urges to take a quick corner or when I play off road sometimes.
I will look for the Superdiff but where is my best option to buy from?

First Q What do you want to spend on a LS diff
Can get from QUAFE LS diffs at a crayzeeeee price of roughly R6-8K
Yes the super diff is a much cheaper option if you read up what the clever Guys in the states say when one wheel start to spin it automatically transver the power to the other wheel to A CERTAIN degree
I have built 3 gearboxes the last month with super Diffs in mostly for racing purposes (Rotary Turbo`s) and Will guarantee You it does make a differince
Before used to see one wheel putting down rubber after fitting 4 spider
diff you see 2 tyre stripes on the road surface.
Me and Rui has actually ordered ond extra diff from the states Cost is roughly $165 X11.5 landed here in SA.
On My DC Microbus I used the center Portion of a Syncro box The diff standard is a 4 spider gear setup plus the advantage off engaging the lockdiff part with a Vacuum pump on the side of the Gearbox.
Corp in what car do you want to put this setup with what motor and is it

Yes, I want one for offroad use, especially those times where the bus's axle articulation is insufficient and it lifts a rear wheel. I have found the (single) handbrake quite useful for that, but often in those situations you don't have enough hands free.
How does one fit double hand brake levers in a bus?

To b honest havent done that to a bus before but I would say starting with a 2nd lever is a good start and modifi the floor to accomodete the 2nd lever and then u have a cable place make you 2 individual cables to soot one per hand brake
You make a latch to link both so u dont have to make both ratchet mechanisims to work so if you need one side seperate just unlatch them from one another and back again for normal handbrake
Wont say it is a afternoons work but some planning and one could make a nice system much cheaper than a LS Diff

the cables are already separate, so all work is up front. will bugger the floor though.

The diff is to be used in a beetle with a newly aquired and relatively standard motor. It is a swing axle.
I see info has been posted for contact details for the SCAT superdiff. Will be sure to make use of it as soon as I can.
I have seen the twin handbrake mod before and I am not a fan. It works alright but I don't want to have to manually adjust brakes and etc to get traction.
Will let all know once I get the estimated quote....
