Our family Beetle will finally be taken out of storage and put back on the road. There is alot that is not original on the car but we will be working to get it back to its former glory

I will be changing the wheels and Steering wheel right away...any suggestions where I can get a correct steering wheel?

Will continue to share here as we go through the journey

Very nice.
Does it still got the semaphores or did someone close it? Do you know what the original colour was?

I do know that it was converted to 12 volt years ago and I have had someone else suggest that it may have had semaphores. I will have to see if it does
My dad bought it in the 70s and it never had them

Original colour was a cream / off white

Is there a way to look this up?

If it's a 58 it would have originally had semaphores, so no need to look further than the VIN. I notice the rear bumper is a one-year-only 1967.

That's an enviable car and looks like a great project. I'm looking forward to your progress reports.

Interesting. I have got a 58 cabrio that looks a lot like yours. My colour looks similar, no semaphores etc.
I could see where the semaphores used to be on mine.
The semaphore was behind the door below the rear side window. If you knock the metal in that area you should hear where they closed them of.
Here is a pic of my one.

It original colour was Atlas blue.

The RHD Cabrios were model 152 and LHD 151.

Herman is correct. A 1959 should have the oval glass "snowflake" taillights.

Thanks Matt. I will take some pics of the upholstery but I know it is not original. This info I got on the certificate:

I agree, should have snowflake taillights and no front indicators.
