Hi,

I bought a 1971 a while back and I'm currently busy fixing her up.

When I bought her she was completely wrapped:

Engine was in a state. Running 100% but looked like a dog's breakfast:

So the work on the engine started:

And I started peeling all the wrapping of and stripping the beetle.

After many hours the beetle was stripped:

And the motor looked a lot prettier .....

And the beetle is currently being stripped down to metal and dents are removed.

Someone obviously spent some effort on the engine. I hope it was not only cosmetics

Certainly a great start! Looking forward to see how you progress.
(Thank you for doing the honorable thing and removing the wrap)

I always have a fear for Wrapped cars, I always think that there must be a reason to wrap, such as rust and body filler.

Hope you did not find such evils under the wrap.

Nice start, please keep photo's coming.

Today my beetle got her front fenders back. Was a bit of mission to get them back on for some reason - my guess is because my beetle shed some weight after kilo's of bondo was removed.

Her bonnet was in such a bad state that it would've taken hours and hours to fix.
Rust holes, big dents that were bondo'd. Friend of mine was kind enough to donate me a replacement. So in general it was a good day beetle wise.

Plan for tomorrow is to put the rear fenders on and start work on the replacement bonnet.

Rear fenders fitted and there was some progress on the new hood. I hope all the body parts will be back on the beetle this time next week. Then the work on the interior will start.
