Hi all. ive been on the net the whole day with regards to lowering of my Beetle. Is it possible to do as a DIY project or do you need the drop link kit as the I have read on the net?

Thank you in advance.

Andre

It can be done as a DIY project, if you can weld and you have the time to do the job, then it is something you can do at home.
You dont need the dropped spindle lowering kit, you can cut the centers out of the beams, move them and weld them back in hoping that you will be happy with the end result.
You also get adjustable center pieces which you install in the center of the beams. You can then adjust the ride height until you are happy with it.

For the front buy an adjustable rebuilt front beam from Dave at Flat Four Racing. For the back you need to rotate the spline positions of the torsion bars, there was a chart somewhere on the net that showed the drop achieved per spline rotation

I believe there is more to be said about the splines at the back: there is one more spline on the outer end than there is on the inner end. You can adjust the angle by a fraction of a degree at a time by rotating the torsion bar one spline up on the one end and one spline down on the other.
