Beetle Inside Door Handle - how is it attached

My Daughter is complaining that the inside door panel securing pins are popping out when she pulls on the inside door handle to close the door.

1971 model.

She lives a bit far away from me to look at it right now, but thought maybe there are supposed to be screws nearby the actual handle keeping it fixed to the steelwork of the door like on other cars I have worked on.

When I replaced the window winder unit the a few months back there was nothing holding the inside door cover other that the press studs/pins if I remember correctly.

Any advise so I know what I need to do when she gets round to visiting Daddy to fix beetle again !

There is a bar that goes behind the panel that the handle bolts onto. This bar also hooks over a tab on the door frame, holding it onto the door

On later models the handle screw into the door
