Aircooled VW South Africa

I have the following vin no on a 01 01 1967 registered Beetle - 115299542. What does all the digits mean? The engine which has a broken block is SFCR067654. The "R" I see means rebuilt. Where do I get a good engine? I suppose engine exchange would be the better way to go.

That Vin shows November 1964. Or I am not looking correct or they only registered it in 1967.

The 3rd digit is the year so definitely 1965 model. (After August, so the following year model)

The registration papers are NOT a definitive source of ANY information about the car. They are often riddled with errors, especially year of first registration.

The VIN number is the definitive source.
