Hi all.

I have been off line for some time but finally back with a bus....
I found the bus in Springs area and after a few months of back and forth we have paid for the bus and started the project of making itnour own.

It is a very straight, mostly original bus. The only drawback is the Ford V6 in the back....but hey. Got the engine going and it will have to ork for now!

The fuel tank was filthy as the bus sat for the better part of 10 years. Brakes were not working and so on.
Started by removing as many of the loose wires and an immobilizer, then placed the fuel line in a 2L coke bottle with some petrol and hot wored the bus. Started after the 4th attempt amd the engine idled right away. I was very surprised as we did not know if the engine worked or not.

Tried the clutch and it gripped first time. Tried the lights, they came on only one indicstor and ine done light needs changing, everyhing else is working. Even got the radio to work (not the tape deck -yet).

The bus had a strange air brake system with some broken pipes that inremoved and blocked off the one brake line. Replaced the front left wheels brake line woth one infound at Van den Brink. Bled the brakes the other night and the pedal seemed to show some pressure in the system.

Also bought an ignition (as it was misisng) got a new key cut. Connected the wires and now the bus starts with a key!!

After replacing the fuel filter and cleaning the tank a bit, we (wife, kids and I) took the bus around the block earlier this week. It needs some serious cleaning but it felt great !

Whats next?
I need to stop some surface rust on the roof.
I managed to find some bay rims that illnstart working on this weekend.
Windscreen
Then the redt of the stuff.

I am building a sand blasting box at the house for small parts (update and pics at a later stage).

Anyway. Here are some bad wuality pics.
Comments welcome!!

@tony.
Thanks for converting the pics!!

Thanks for the comments guys. Apart form the engine, the body and inferior is really in good condition.
Picking up a bay rim and a windscreen this weekend ( now have 3 rims.... ) next week we will be working on the surface tust and probable re painting the roof. We not sure if we wantnto go two tone or paint like the early bay busses - solid colour up to rain gutters......

Interior will stay as is. Will do the roof, polish the yellow and take it from there.

Will update again once we have done something...

Only noticed now, they did a clever job on the radiator there. Seems to be hidden behind the front bumper so hopefully no cutting into the cab?

Hi Allan,

Well spotted.

The radiator sits under the front floor, only the "nose" under the bumper was cut for air flow - about 45cm x 10cm. easy fix for when I change the engine later on.

hi all,

Been gathering parts for the wheels and hubcaps, but found a set of 4 wheels, good tyres and hub caps. will collect this afternoon after work.
the rims and caps are black so want to see the condition and the way it looks before deciding on painting. I have never seen stock rims and hubcaps painted black on a bus....

also started to steam clean the interior, slow process, but looks much better already.

Like the "very original" dash ornament.

Hi all.

Been busy removing wires and strange connections under the dash.
Polished the yelliw and the rusty run marks. Bus is looking so much better already.
We were thinking or changing colour but now that it is cleaned properly we gonna stick with the yellow. Probable do some tpuch ups and respray the white entirely.

Need some advise:
- white rims or original grey/ silver

Remember thr bus had a ford V6 in at the moment.
Thoughts on removing it and installing 1.9 td??

Thanks
