Hi all, I got a noise just like a noisy thrust bearing and when I push in the clutch pedal it goes away but checking the bearing and physically feeling it, it's smooth no roughness. Could something else be the cause from in the gearbox

Try putting the idling up a bit higher.

Could be that its dry, been washed out with cleaner.

Take the thrust and heat it up to approx.120deg C and place in cold engine or gearbox oil overnight, let it drip dry and wipe with clean cloth, before refitting.

I found that the spigot shaft (input shaft) has got play left to right and up and down.Not to worried about that as its supported in the pilot bearing.
My concern is that the shaft also has about 5 mm movement in and out ,so if I pull the shaft out I get about 5 mm free play when pushing it in again.Could that be causing a noise.
What fix can be done to eliminate the in and out free play.

You normally have free play but I do not think this is your noise issue, I would place some thick grease into your flywheel hole, where your needle rollers are, but see that they are OK before doing this.

It may be that your needle bearings are too deep into the flywheel.

I am a firm believer that you should not try to fix what ain't broke.

That will be fine to take up any play while running.

The in and out movement on your input shaft doesn’t sounds good. It shouldn’t have 5mm end play. Time to open the box.

I just went back to your first post, you say that it goes quiet when you press the clutch pedal. This would indicate that when your pedal is depressed (the release bearing is turning and under load and your input shaft stops turning as it’s disingaged from the motor.

This clearly means that your noise is only caused when the input shaft is turning.

Then it’s not your release bearing.
