Between twin carbs on a 1600 Beetle, what is your preference between Weber and Dellortos and why?

Then, do you have or would you recommend the so called “weber windows” for easy access and it would also help with changing the spark plugs?

I like weber IDFs. They work well and feed each cylinder individually so you can get a pretty close to perfect setup.
Why do I prefer them over Dellortos? Simple, I have plenty jets for the webers and none for the dells.

Windows are recommended, they make your life a lot easier. You can make them yourself for very little cost if you really want to.

I like Dellortos because they have air bypass screws on the butterflies. This feature makes fine tuning between cylinders possible.

Thanks Guys!

Apart from the fine adjustability on the Dellortos, how does the ease of adjustability compare?

Just by looking at some sites, it would seem that Webers are more freely available and it should also translate in better availability of spares. Is this assumption/deduction fair?

Dellortos for me, newer design, with several improvements over the Webers, flow more air, the last 36 DRLA Dellortos fitted to Alfas you could get to the idle jets from the top, but most are still mounted on the side of the carb.
