I know this story has been around for a long time but for those of us that don't know the whole story could we have some input on what happened from those who know more. Thanks

The last SA Beetle was built in January 1979 and went straight to the VWSA museum.

In 2006, VWSA transported several of their museum cars to a VWSA 55-year anniversary celebration in Cape Town. On the return journey, the car transporter overturned and destroyed all the cars.

Since then VWSA has rebuilt the car for display purposes, so the "last SA Beetle" in the museum is now a replica.

Pics to follow.
