Will a t2 fitted with a 1600 run cooler with the engine bay top cover the one inside the kombi run cooler.

What are you trying to ask? Do you want to drive with the lid open?

The Aussies used to drive on their sand roads with the inside lid open, and the cab vent full open.

This was not for cooling, but to get better dust free air into the engine, as the back vents would suck their powder dry dust into the engine and clog all the cooling.

If you do that you will probably be wind swept and breathing in oil vapors from the leaky engine.

Not too healthy.

Why is your engine running hot.??

Why would you want to ride with the inside lid open??

make sure all your tins are on, and all the holes have been closed the holes small and big with aluminum duct tape, and spray can it black.

The cheapest way to save your engine is to fit an electrical oil temp gauge, the type with two wires to the back.

Drill and tap a hole into your sump plug, screw the thermocouple you get with the gauge and fit a joint plug onto the wires from the sump plug to the wires to the gauge so you can drain oil without coiling up the wire.

Then as you drive and the oil get to 110 you bring the rev's down to 3000 rpm and she will cool down again

This I find the easy and save way to protect your engine, as you would otherwise not know what your engine is doing.

Did this with the Fleetline with a rebuild engine going up the Sani with out any overheating.

I love my bus and its just that after I completed it did a trip and thats when my motor went.
What I want is to be sure and do awsome trips and enjoy.
Nothing better than driving an old girl and spending free time away.

Had the same happen to me, then I fitted the rev counter and the oil temp, as can be seen below, and the problem was sorted.

Ran her at my pace, till the oil temp got to 110 Deg. C, brought the rev's down to 3000 and the engine will start cooling down to 90 or even 70

When the engine was just done up, she was tight, so also add a extended sump, as well as air scoops to the vent slots.

This all helped to run the engine in and now she is as happy as a pig in ....
