Hi Folks,

I have a strong petrol smell in my kombi and when i start the engine there is smoke coming out of the airvents!
I checked the fuel lines and there are no leaks from the fuel tank to the pump and carbs.

Any ideas what is going on?

Think your needle and seats are leaking fuel into the engine and an exhaust leak is letting it running into the heater system and igniting it when the exhaust is hot.

Be careful as you could burn your car out , so find the fualt as soon as possible.

I think I found the fault, the braided hose above the heater box is perished on the inside.

Very lucky save. You can't fight a fire there and it's a gravity feed from the tank.
