Currently have 15 inch original Rostyles with old 165/80R15 rubber new rubber is around R1000 per Tyre, would it be worth it to widen them to 5.5J or should i rather get 5.5J 14s Thoughts ?

Anyone know the PCD, Also what is the common size most use nowadays on the beetle?

the price and size is totally your decision.
Tyres arent cheap and cheap tyres arent worth the money, its your life on those patches of rubber.
The stock sizes give you the nicest ride.
I'm running 215/45/17 on my bug and its not a soft ride. I used to run 195/50/15 at the front and 195/65/15 at the back - the car handled very well with that setup.

The two stock sizes that i have is 185/70R14 more available in that size and 165/80R15 is that correct?

Just don’t want to mess up the original rostyles by widening or damaging them on potholes.. potentially..

if you already have the 15" rims, then get the 15" tyres. The sidewall will absorb most potholes without damaging the rim if you keep the tyre pressure correct.
Also remember, the steel rims are easy to straighten if they bend, unlike aluminium rims.

As for the correct size?? That I cant remember, but your numbers do seem good.
Thinner tyres will grip better in the rain or on slippery roads

Yes thats the STD tyre for the Beetle replacement.

You can go wider if you want but then you have to use the Tyre Calculator to get the right circumference.

Bigger circumference gives more top speed as long as you keep it down to a moderate %
