I AM LOOKING FOR TYRES TO FIT THE TIP TOW / TREKBAR TRAILER. I DO HAVE A SUPPLIER IN DURBAN BUT THEIR PRICE SEEMS A BIT HIGH.
IS THERE ANYONE ON THE FORUM THAT KNOWS WHERE I CAN GET THESE AND AT WHAT PRICE? I AM IN THE MARKET FOR 4 OF THEM.

THEY ARE 4.8/4.00 - 8 . MINIMUM 6 PLY AND RATED TO 100KPH. MUST BE SQUARE PROFILE IE. NOT A SCOOTER TYRE.

Mark they are not cheap I paid R500 ea a while back would think they are more now. Some people use scooter tyres but they are round on sides for cornering.

In the old days Speddick used to sell those type tyres. Stock was "ex Durban' from their main office. Was'nt cheap. https://www.speddick.co.za/

A lot of tuk-tuks use this same tyre size, so they should be more freely available now that tuk-tuks are everywhere.

SPEDDICK IS INDEED THE SUPPLIER I AM USING. THEIR ATTITUDE AND PRICE HAVE BOTH INCREASED DRAMATICALLY RECENTLY. I THINK THIS IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY SEEM TO BE THE ONLY TYRE PLACE DOING THESE PARTICULAR TYRES. I HAVE TRIED MANY PLACES INCLUDING THE OTHER WHOLESALERS AND BIKE PLACES.
THE LATEST QUOTED PRICE IS JUST A FEW RAND BELOW R700 PER TYRE (THAT'S WHOLESALE).
IF YOU BUY FROM A DEALER THEY ADD AROUND R100 MORE TO THAT.

AS FOR THE TUK-TUKS USING THESE TYRES........
PERHAPS THE OLD TUK-TUKS USED TO BUT THE NEW ONES ALL USE THE 10" TYRE. I'VE BEEN THAT ROUTE AS WELL.
IF YOU CAN FIND SOMEONE THAT SUPPLIES THE MOBI-JACK GUYS YOU MAY JUST BE ONTO A GOOD THING BECAUSE THEY USE THESE TYRES AS WELL.

I got my ones from Dion Super Quick they got them for me with tubes.

Deon (Dr Watson when he was on these forums) also provided my first set of tip tow tyres @R450ea, but that was years ago. I'm not sure where his Supa Quick is (somewhere in/near Kempton Park) as he delivered to me.

R700 sounds like a pretty fair to me. These are not run of the mill Venter trailer tires, you pay more for slow moving items.

Either pay for the correct ones, or buy the cheaper incorrect scooter tyres....

Mark what tyres did you end up fitting at what price.

Yip also bought the Kenda K371 from SPEDDICK
