Where can I get ahold of a clutch and pressure plate for my 412. 1700. Complete kit would be great.

Thanks

I stand under correction, but I think the 411/412 uses the same clutch as the beetle

There was an early 1700 flywheel that utilised a 200mm clutch (same size as a Beetle), but i'm pretty sure the splines differ on the Type 4's making the beetle clutch not compatible.

The 200mm clutch was used by early 69 411 cars.
Later cars used around 215mm size.
Pressure plate should be similar as 1700/ 1800 kombi but not 2L.

Clutch disc splines are 411/412 specific, so discs from a type 4 engined kombi will not fit.
So one would have to take the old disc and have it relined, where they re-use the inner splined section.

I measured the clutch and its diameter is 200mm, pointing to a beetle clutch? The vehicle was converted to manual somewhere in its life and received its gbox from a beetle then?

Are there stronger clutch options available in the 200mm?

No, although it’s also 200mm wide like a beetles, it is not the same as myself and Dawie have said above. The splines differ. Your only option is to recondition it.

Although your vehicle may have been converted to a manual, it will certainly not have been to a beetle box. They are very different to what’s used in a type 4.
