Gift for Dad .... from ...Dad

Post by retrovan »

Just wanted to share my new gift with you

Something I should have got 50 years ago....

Being a Aircooled addict, what is the thing you do the most with the most effort, and normally land up doing by your self ?????

Well its taking out engines..... yes the main pain in the butt.

So this week I got me a Bike Jack, now you all may ask what you need a bike jack for ? are you giving up Aircooleds...??

No,its the most easy way to take out an engine without effort.

Yes its true, you have wheels under it , it has two parallel arms to balance the motor,

it has two foot peddles to go up or down which you can operate with your feet while your heads in the engine compartment.

It lifts 450 mm high and goes down to 120 mm

Man what a great find..... :D :D

The two pads fit perfectly under the sump, no damage to the bottom of the engine,

and it still has a bit of rock in the engine to line up the spigot shaft, so all good.

No more trying to balance the motor on a garage jack, while trying to look if its lined up just to have it slip off to the one side.

No this is the ultimate aircooled engine putter inner.

At R2.5k at Adendorff’s it looks like a good deal. Have you tested it yet?

Yes took the Fastback type 4 motor out and re-fitted it after replacing the spigot bearing and crank oil seal.

Works like a trooper, and makes the work such a pleasure.

Works effortless, nice thing is the garage jack stays with the car lifting and dropping and the bike jack, with motor, slides out under the car,

and allows you to take it to a open space and lift it up and sit on a chair working on the engine.

When done, you drop it down wheel it under the car jack it up wiggle it a bit and in she goes.

Job done :D :D :D
