Aircooled VW South Africa

Good morning guys.
I'm new to this forum. I'm building a beamish buggy.
Last night I put on the new tins and found that the alternator is about 10mm forward.
Any ideas.

Correct pedestal ????

check the locating dowels/bumps on the bottom of the alternator that slots into the pedestal. Sometimes they dont line up and need to be filed away
