Can anyone tell me what type of engine this is,please!

The engin Chris is asking about is a s/p that is in a 63 split bus with side exit exhust genny and 30pict carb all looks to be origional ??????????????? :zhelp: :flash: :!: :?: :idea:

Will double check when i get home but im sure its SFBR :zhelp:is there a chance its a recon motor with new code maybe??????????????

R = reconditioned by the factory, and re-stamped so what is inside will be a good guess

In my experience SFBR and SFCR were the engine# prefixes on VWSA factory rebuilds with new Brazilian or Mexican cases. You may have scored a luck.

Normally the mexican cases are also stamped "Henco en mexico" (Spelling) if I remember correctly

Hecho en Mexico

I went to see a Beetle a while back and posted it here on the forum, on the case it was stamped Hecho en Mexico...
