From the Samba, I like the discreet intakes in front:
Oh my! It's BMW!

Well Like our kidneys get rid off
Those BMW kidneys must work good for the Heat then
Just shows you again you do not need to hack the car for cooling

Well if it is big enough for a E36 M3 it should be for a notch
The big thing is to get rid of the air that enters
Bigger is not always better
A few Years Back the ford Sierra had no grill
The models after no grill with grill had smaller rediators cost saving for Ford and a few mods other wise
You need to create a suction effect after the rediator in a bug coz there are nice corners where the air can "accumelate" and not get out this causes running hot

In the 90's VW had a Passat with no grill in their range (this generation of cars was not available in SA). The air for the radiator went through the badge on the nose. I drove a diesel Passat Variant (station wagon) like this, who belonged to friends from Frankfurt, on the Autobahn in Germany. At 140km/h, you get overtaken by literally - EVERYONE!
In hindsight, I must say I think a lot of air is also scooped up by intakes underneath the bumper, which I suppose is the case with the BMW as well?
