Going topless

I bought a beetle hotrod (with detachable hard top) that looks stunning with it's top off. However, the nasty piece of trash that masquerades as a roof is just horrifying.
I'd like to know if it's possible for me to put a soft top on the car (it has a roll hoop on it already). Basically, does anyone know of a ready-made soft top kit for a beetle?
Alternatively, I was perhaps thinking of nicking a soft top from those 80s model Citi golfs. Would that fit?

Try not to bark or laugh - got no pics of the top off. If I do take this top off, I'll not wanna put it back on...hehehe

Yeah, it's the same one. I personally hate the roof, it's this wooden horror with no back window, it's really clumsy. That's why I wanted to toss it for a soft top.
My friend suggested we mould a fibreglass roof on, but the amount of work we have to put into that will keep the poor thing off the road even longer.
Anyone with any advice for going softop?
