Indeed Dark Lord,it’s been a while. So here is an update just for you.It is long one,so be prepared
Let’s start with you then, shall we? Vader went up to Jhb a couple of weeks ago after a long search for a watercooled VW. He returned home, not only with a Golf TDi,but also with the body that will become the Tie Fighter. A wild idea he envisioned one night while the gas mixture was just right. Vader also got a donor body that was parked the parking atentand,HR’s,home. The pit crew came together one Saturday in Vader’s absence and stripped it. See what happens when you don’t pitch when you supposed to. The guys get so angry, they take your car apart.
Vuyo in the meantime decided that it was time for the Notch project to find a new home and Karmakoma was just too happy to adopt the car. Good luck with that project. jmvv found a Square hidden under a carport for a couple of years and wanted to make it his own. Dusty went on it’s first road trip, albeit on the back of a trailor. Pine flew down to George to have some of his mom’s food, and collect his newly acquired LHD Squarie. After kissing his mom goodbye and packing the picnic basket that she so lovingly prepared,he drove the old girl back to Jhb.But that only after he got stuck in the sand on a beach. No turtle eggs was broken during the photo shoot. YvanneS also got hold of a Notch. It will soon be doing the trip up to Jhb as well.In what seemed to be a month of Type3’s finding new owners,VDudBulli bought two Squarries that he is busy rebuilding down in the Republic of St Francis. I do have to mention Blitzkrieg too. It’s out of the garage and have since had it’s wiring sorted. 2020 is not that far off anymore Blitzie.
Bad Ass Bob sold his Bus and its currently undergoing a major rebuild which I’m sure will be a stunning Bus. Didi found a Westy that looks like it got too close to the Darkside and is being rid of the cancer as we speak. Lots of work still lies ahead, but we saw what Didi did with his KG,and I’m sure it will be a gorgeous Bus when he is finished. Tom Bishop finished The Thing, and man, does it look stunning! He went all out to restore the 181 to it’s former glory and it paid off. Dutch Diver’s BB,from here on known as Rosie,is looking great ,but I’m not sure what Jurgen and Esme are up to. They are feeding Dutch breakfeast every Saturday. Maybe they think if they give him enough food,he will stay. Barry has made good progress with the Volks Rodster. It’s good to see that level of workmanship in SA. With the next meatl meet being held in October,Barry will make sure that more people will learn the tricks of the trade and we might see more work like this around in the near future.
And talking about great work,Lowlight’s Westy is also coming to it’s own. He has been working hard to get the Westy back to it’s former glory, and it will soon be one of the best looking examples around. Buggoff has and interesting project that a lot of us will keep and eye on.The Eagle kit car has already been assembled. Although it’s just a mock-up,and knowing the quality of work he does, this car will be a winner. Good luck with the build Buggoff.4agedub’shistoric racer Beetle did well in the race at The Vaal. He won both heats in his class and as on top of the world. Congratulations! You make us proud. Now,brush up on your public speaking, you will have to do it a lot! While we are on the subject of fast Beetles,Bugger bought back his old New Beetle. It saw a bit of abuse in the hands of the previous owner, but Bugger will soon sort out The Light Bearer and I know it will be one of the fastest if the Fly is anything to go by. 66looker made an appearance at Ferdi’s with the Type4 powered Bug. It has had some rave revues and I would love to see it at fig’s next year.
A lot of projects is happening at the moment and with the recession looking like it might be turning,I hope that more projects will be started. But spare a thought for the guys that has been hard hit by the bad economy. A couple of good friends have taken a serious knock and some will be looking for new jobs soon. Hang in there guys,it can only get better from here on. I have also been hard hit in the last 12 months, but with the help of great friends I made in the last almost 2 ½ years on this forum,I managed to keep my head above water. My lowlight SC has given me a lot of grief but I managed to get it going over this weekend. But on my 10 000th post,it’s kind of ironic that I ended up with a watercooled engine in my SC.I want to use this opportunity to thank the following people: Eben,TonyZ,Pine, fig,Dutch Diver,HR,Vader,Ladybug,Lowlight,Bad Ass Bob,Thumper and Family,Bugger,Beetlefanatic,fightercombi,Vincentcockcroft,vdudbulli,VWCrazy,Vuyo,Ron&Gill,Gill&Ron,ZeroAxe,Merlin,Armand,forcecooled,Dirk,Watercool,Sk8erbug,Pepsicola ChrisG,SambaOwner,SambaBus,Barbwire,Angel and last but not least, Blitzkrieg.

Eben has a baby on the way,Thumper, good luck in your endeavours,Vader, may the force be with you,TonyZ,may the water always keep you afloat,Hitler’s Revenge, you are one of the best friends anyone can ask for,Pine, you are a true friend,Bugger, never change and keep up the good work,I know it’s tough. Vader, keep those seatcover pics comming and the gas mixture of the highest quality!
