The alternator stand...

I seem to remember asking someone about this a while ago?

I belive the alternator stand is, like the block, Magnesium...so will paint not stick to it?

I want to paint it black, polish it, and clearcoat it...possible?

I painted mine with CS4 primer.

Otherwise I'll send it off to Bugger...he's using some wierd stuff to paint my gearbox with...also a paint-sticking problem part apparently.

I know very little about paint. I do know that the CS4 primer did stick and it comes in black, white or red.

I'll speak to Bugger, as it needs to be somewhat more glossy than that, and I suspect that I'm going to have the same issues painting my alternator shroud plate, and the gearbox sideplates - Alu.

my alternator and plate was also done with that paint. Once the primer is on, you can always paint it in another colour.....

Mmmmkay...thanks.

Will have to brush it on, with my ideas, and then finish it off with a Shiteload of masking...detailing a few places on the car. ;)

I'm going to paint my engine tin matt black, with a matt silver engine fan shroud and gearbox.Silver and black detailing :D

silver on the gearbox.... hmmm thats smells like an overheated box...remember silver reflects heat back to where it came from, thats why its used as heat shield paint......

detail in black with silver striping. Black works well to eject heat

yes you can, the cooling air runs through it....The air does the cooling, not the shroud.
The gearbox is only cooled by the casing radiating the heat to the surroundings, if you return that heat to where it came from, it wont cool.
