Finally got a project car that will work. Picked up this original 59 (registered 01/01/59) and spent it's entire life in the freestate until 2 years ago, when it was purchased and left in the garage under wraps. I have never seen a car with zero rust on, so this one made my day.
now I only need to work out what the hell the previous owner did with the lights to not make them work (all other electrics work fine after the 12v conversion), but she runs like a beaut
Full restoration will take place in March.

Nothing will be changed, just stripped, cleaned and made original again. At some point the idiot cut a f**king radio hole in the dash and did one hell of a crude job, so that will need to be sorted. Also the semaphores aren't working, which will be number 1 priority.
Since it's 50th bday is coming up soon, i'd like to bring the car back to what it was in 59. Don't worry, this car will be kept original, I have 50 000 to spend on doing it, so it should be back to normal when i'm done

On a side note, i'd love to hear from everyone where they think the best place is to get spares. Luckily I fly all over, so i'm constantly in the UK or NYC but would prefer someone local.
Also, keeping with it being a usable classic, anyone have any recommendations on brighter headlamps (kept inside the classic casing)

Well most of the spares that you will find here will be coming from abroad so on your travels get the spares deliverd at a piont where you can pick them up and bring them back with you
And sssssssss(you will save on the import thing) aswell
But by looking at your bug most can be refurbed and re chromed the back bumpers do not even looks damaged

Spending the christmas period browsing, i worked that one out. The main site which seems like one hell of a site is
http://www.wolfsburgwest.com/ so orders will be shipped to my address in the uk and i'll grab them from there.
I like that they sell
