How to prevent your brass fuel pipe from pulling out of the carb, and set your VW alight:
If you have a carb, safety wiring the pressed in brass line going in there.

Yeah, standard practice on the critical lines in my "retired" bug (oil + fuel lines).
Nothing like decent hydraulic screw fittings though.
I once had the barbed fuel pipe in the carb come out of the carb (intact with the fuel line still clamped to it) while I was driving and I drove it till it started chugging (one float chamber full). Fuel all over the engine and it must have pumped a few liters because the fuel gauge dropped drastically in the process. Good thing there were no sparks ...

if the pipe is loose just tin the end with solder lightly and hammer it in This fix works very well and does not come loose

IMPI, I would kiss you if you werent a geezer! I *need* to do this to one of my Fasty's carbs....
